Stone Festival – Soap Box Race
I have something a little different to show you today. Yesterday I had the pleasure of heading into Stone high street in Staffordshire to witness the Soap Box Race organised in conjunction with the Stone Festival, which is currently ongoing. It’s rare that I get to make it to local community events due to working all hours photographing both in the studio and on location. So I was very excited to be attending the Soap Box Race and I couldn’t resist the temptation to bring along my camera to capture the event as it unfolded.
As you’ll see below the standard of creativity when it came to the building on the soap box cars was excellent, although I only captured a fraction of the cars. My good friend James won in his class (and I believe the fastest time) for Viking Garden Buildings in Stafford. Once he had been awarded his medal and trophy by the Mayor of Stone, I followed a group of his close friends and fellow competitors as they commandeered his aptly named ‘Just Don’t Tippett’ Soap Box, which as you would expect was in the form of a small shed.
The event was a great success and really well run by all involved.
Here’s a small preview of the evening…
